SAP System Monitoring

What is the status of your SAP system? Now administrators can answer this question no matter where they are with the mobile app “SAP System Monitoring” for iPhone, iPad and Android. The availability, performance, and exceptions of important systems can be monitored from anywhere. The app, connected to SAP Solution Manager, displays alerts and metrics directly on users’ mobile devices.

Depending on the situation, users may want to see a detailed status report for technical systems, instances, databases and hosts, or test individual metrics and results in detail. They can even call up alert details for deep-dive analyses of certain symptoms, ensuring that the correct measures are taken if there is a problem. Users are easily able to access data in ABAP technical systems, Java systems, .NET systems, and others, thanks to the connection with SAP Solution Manager application management solution. In addition, users have the ability to save the most relevant systems in their “My System” group.

To use SAP System Monitoring with operational data, users must have SAP Solution Manager. They can try out the app using sample data. There are versions available for iPad, iPhone and Android.

The “SAP Liquidity Risk Manger” app for iPad delivers what is essentially a small, mobile data center for calculating liquidity risk. With it, users can connect to the SAP application of the same name from anywhere. The app makes much of the information in the application and many of the rudimentary functions available while on the go. Users can carry out liquidity risk analyses and examine all cash flow dimensions. They can also conduct financial stress tests, assigning different scenarios to an object. The liquidity curve and key figures are graphically displayed and easy to understand. Teams can also use the app for collaborative work.

With the MARS-O-Matic app for iPad, businesses are able to quickly calculate the costs of their IT landscape and create a detailed benchmark. The app displays both components of the existing IT architecture and planned scenarios, including contingent costs. This provides companies with transparency of the current IT costs and gives them a starting point for optimization, especially through a comparison of outsourcing options. Infrastructure modeling on tablets is possible through a simple user interface.

The solution calculates a benchmark price for the operation of current and planned IT infrastructure, based on the cost accounting, and finds possibilities for cost optimization. The app accesses central servers that use real operational data to identify the actual expense of supporting various components and architectures. MARS-O-Matic can be used by CIOs, project leads, architects and administrators, as well as specialized department. The models created in the app are especially helpful for communication between IT and business decion-makers. MARS-O-Matic is available in the Apple App Store for U.S.$8.99.

A complete multimedia sales portfolio on the iPad is available to users of the “SalesKit” app from itelligence. Each “folder”, shown as a leather notebook, is filled with relevant information for sales meetings with customers. With a quick tap on the icon, the notebook opens to display presentations, brochures and videos. When users start the app, a database query is created directly in the SAP system. If a new version of a document exists, users receive an alert. They can then decide whether to download the new version or to view the locally-saved version. Offline mode enables use of the app even when there’s no network connection.

Metadata, such as the creator of a document and the date when changes are made, is available to sales employees whenever they need it: during preparation for a meeting or to answer customer questions, for example. They can even e-mail forms to the customer directly from the app.

A content management tool based on Web Dynpro for ABAP supports the backend management of different materials in each SalesKit. It also allows administrators to define which employees have access to what information. Tablet users can save different SalesKits as favorites. It’s as simple as clicking on the star symbol – familiar to any user of an Internet browser – in the list view. The price for it.mobile SalesKit is a one-time charge of 150 euros (plus tax) per user.

The iZettle app transforms smartphones and tablets into ATM and credit card readers. For this, a small piece of hardware is necessary, which companies can order through the manufacturer. The card reader is the size of a box of matches, costs 25 euros, and can be used with both iOS devices and Android phones.

It works like this: the salesperson inserts the customer’s card into the device, enters the amount and payment method in the interface, and, after a quick check with the buyer’s bank to ensure that the payment can be processed, the sale is complete. The transaction occurs via a suspense account: iZettle collects the payment from the buyer and then directly transfers the amount, minus a 2.75% fee, to the seller’s account. Currently, the device is compatible with MasterCard, American Express, and ATM cards. Support for other systems are planned, but until now, Visa has only allowed its customers to use such a system if they enter their credit card PIN. iZettle promises security and encryption in all processes. A small bonus: it’s  possible to save your own products and services in the app to call up and bill at any time.
