nextevolution: new solution for procurement management

Hamburg, Germany-based nextevolution’s nextPCM Procurement File software is set to be replaced by nextPCM Procurement Management. The new and enhanced version enables companies to manage and document complex purchasing transactions from end to end – from the planning meeting through delivery. The data required – for example, from SAP modules such as Materials Management – and all documents can be gathered and stored in a digital purchasing file.
What’s more, nextevolution announced that nextPCM Contract Management is slated for release in August. This software, certified by SAP as “Powered by SAP NetWeaver,” includes new usability and security features. The user interfaces are now clearer and easier to adapt, while documents can be found using thumbnail preview. Furthermore, confidential content is now better protected because printing and saving can be integrated with the file, and roles can be assigned to certain content.

ESPRiT joins special expertise program for insurance

ESPRiT, headquartered in Munich, Germany, has joined SAP’s special expertise program (SEP) for insurance. In its capacity as management and IT consultancy for primary insurers and reinsurers, ESPRiT predicts new challenges for the industry. Customer focus, customer relationship management, system harmonization, rollout, and changes in the area of services are all high on the agenda. According to ESPRiT, systems such as SAP Customer Relationship Management (SAP CRM) help companies offer their customers good conditions and service quality – and ultimately strengthen customer retention and focus. Another factor is the trend toward industrialization and standardization. This leads to cost pressure and means that companies need flexible and integrated solutions for their IT systems. That’s why ESPRiT advises its customers with regard to various SAP modules such as Collections and Disbursements (FS-CD), Claims Management (FS-CM) and Incentive and Commission Management (FS-ICM). In addition, ESPRiT offers insurers support for module integration in policy management systems such as Policy Management (FS-PM) and Reinsurance Management (FS-RI).

OPAL offers mobile solutions for logistics

Swiss-headquartered OPAL is gearing up to present various SAP-based mobile applications for logistics and goods management processes at Steeb’s forum for midsize companies. The German-speaking event will take place on 20 and 21 September at the Congress Park in Hanau, Germany. One example from OPAL is mobile asset inventory in the SAP system. Using the software and a mobile computer, data can be accessed and made available from practically any location. Labels can be printed straight from the SAP system. OPAL’s label management functions for SAP mean that customers can adapt labels to their needs and to new delivery requirements. As a result, deliveries, goods receipts, and warehouse inventories can be optimized. What’s more, the software includes templates for creating product, shipping, and warehouse labels. Another OPAL product – LP Mobile GRAFIX – is designed to visualize logistics processes using colored entry screens on mobile end devices. The goal is to post goods in the SAP system as fast as possible and thus ensure up-to-date and secure inventory levels. topSPEECH-Lydia functions using pick-by-voice and aims to simplify picking. Instead of paper and barcode scanners, all that users need is a headset and a mobile language client. Instructions are given by voice. The software can be integrated with the SAP environment using SAP connectors and without middleware.

Stat Control: inventory sampling with arvato services

The logistics and services company arvato services is set to perform its stocktaking using sampling with STASAM from Stat Control. The software solution was already implemented at arvato’s mobile device site in Herzebrock, Germany, and other locations are slated to follow. In Herzebrock, some 15,000 different spare parts for cell phones are stored so that models from different manufacturers can be repaired. STASAM meets the requirements of Germany’s Principles of Due Operation of Electronic Bookkeeping Systems (GoB) and enables permanent and periodic physical inventories. Four statistical procedures are used for this: mean-value estimation, difference estimation, ratio estimation, and regression estimation. For sampling, a total of 3.8% of the items must be counted, with the percentage rising to 100 for very valuable items. Use of STASAM enabled arvato to reduce the number of employees required for the full physical inventory from 120 to 40, with just three hours required rather than a whole day.
