The companies that took out each of the 14 categories included some of Australia’s and New Zealand’s leading small and large companies, and represent both the public and private sectors. Among the winners were Boots Healthcare Australia and partner IBM Business Consulting Services for the Best CRM Implementation; British American Tobacco, Australia and Bearing Point Australia for the Innovation Award Using New Technology; GPC Electronics and IBM Business Consulting Services won the award for Best SMB Implementation; and the joint winners of the Best ERP Implementation were Airservices Australia and partner Atos Origin, along with Queensland Alumina Limited and partner Accenture. In the lead up to the event an independent team of judges evaluated submissions from a wide variety of industries and partners. The judging panel consisted of: Rob Durie, Chief Executive, Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA); Peter Hind, Program Manager of InTEP Forums at IDC; and was overseen by John Lombard, Director of SAP Professional Services for ANZ.
Judging criteria was based on the customers’ effective use of resources, its relationships with both the implementation partner and SAP, ability to understand and adapt to changing market conditions, and achievement of the set business objectives. “Through the Partner-Customer Awards of Excellence, we aim to recognise the high level of achievement and innovation of our customers IT implementations which leads to successful business outcomes,” said Geraldine McBride, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of SAP ANZ. “The submissions to this year’s awards were of a very high standard, but ultimately the winners were selected because in addition to coming in on time and within budget, the project results were tightly integrated with the overall strategic objectives of each business. “Each of the winning submissions commenced new projects and investments in technology in a climate when IT investments were difficult to justify, and their successes indicate the tenacity and confidence of the individual businesses under challenging market conditions,” said Rob Durie, Chief Executive, AIIA. “The winning companies showed that such projects are not just about a successful IT implementation, but about successful business outcomes.”
