University Alliance Program Provides Egyptian Universities with Resources to Train the Region’s Future Business Leaders
Egypt, Cairo — SAP is continuing to address employment skills shortages in the Middle East region by adding three, prominent universities in Egypt to SAP’s global University Alliance Program.
Students at Cairo University, Ain-Shams University and the German University in Cairo will join approximately 150,000 students from 700 tertiary institutions around the world already learning SAP solutions.
The SAP program offers students insight and hands-on experience into how technology empowers a business to optimize key processes such as accounting and controlling, human capital management, project planning, plant and materials management, and sales and distribution.
“SAP’s University Alliance program will help the region`s growing IT industry by providing IT professionals and business informatics experts who are equipped with the right skill sets, it is important and beneficial for both undergraduate and post graduate students to be aware of technology before they enter the market,” said Prof. Dr. Ashraf Mansour Chairman of Board of Trustees, the German University in Cairo –GUC
Members of the SAP University Alliance are given exclusive access to SAP’s business solutions to use in the classroom, enabling students to put theory to practice through demonstrations, problem-solving, case studies, and research programs. Upon graduation, students have a sound understanding of how technology can facilitate integrated business processes and strategic thinking and their chances for post-graduate employment are enhanced.
Egypt’s IT market is likely to be worth as much as USD 1.3 billion per annum by the year 2011, according to recent reports.
“SAP is helping fulfill the increasing demand for skilled resources that is emerging from a rapidly growing IT market. Students are graduating with the skills necessary not only to work in the industry but the knowledge to contribute to its development,” said Sergio Maccotta, Managing Director SAP MENA.
“Egypt has shown incredible potential in recent years, and our partnership with Cairo University, Ain-Shams University and the German University in Cairo is testament to SAP’s commitment to Egypt’s emerging IT market,” added Maccotta.
