Telecom specialists to create efficient mobile ecosystem for government agencies
User-friendly mobility services to help cost optimization and improved communications
Dubai, UAE — Etisalat, the leading UAE-based telecom company, today joined hands with German business software global leader SAP to align and accelerate its support to the m-Government strategic goals and initiatives.
Etisalat will be discussing m-Government solutions and services during GITEX Technology Week 2013 in Dubai from October 20-24. GITEX Technology Week is the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region’s top ICT exhibition and conference.
This collaboration is expected to reinforce each company’s leadership in their markets, and provide a stronger basis to grow in the mobile government industry.
The Etisalat-SAP co-innovation will aim to facilitate a management framework that will enable the smooth functioning of mobility apps and services within and across government hierarchy when sharing information, and during service delivery and user registration.
The collaboration will provide holistic access to best practices, lines of reference, guidance, innovative ideas and solutions related to challenges associated with m-Government development. This initiative aims to create user-friendly apps for government departments, which will keep the workforce and customers connected. Its application development platform will help strengthen mobile strategy and facilitate app-customization.
“Etisalat’s m-Government services will guarantee effectiveness and transparency between government agencies and businesses. Both Etisalat and SAP are working towards eliminating the risks that most new technologies bring to organizations,” said Abdulla Hashim, Senior Vice President of ICT, Etisalat UAE.
With these solutions, Etisalat can deliver innovative business apps with built-in developer tools. It will also reduce costs with a multi-purpose development platform to tap into connections and resources.
Businesses can easily include messaging services in their apps and simplify time-consuming tasks such as security control, data access, and synchronization. Customers will be able to deploy applications across multiple devices such as iOSx, Android, Windows and Blackberry to avoid working with multiple processes and interfaces.
Qais Gharaibeh, Managing Director, SAP UAE, said: “Mobile technology is empowering individuals, businesses and organisations more than ever before. The UAE, in particular, is determined to play a leadership role in this space. This is visionary leadership at its very best, focusing on operational step-change, lasting results and pure value for governments, businesses and citizens. With a highest smartphone penetration rate in the world, emergence of one of the region’s youngest and tech-savvy populations, and a strong leadership entirely at ease with both understating and working with cutting-edge technologies the UAE will bring government services to everyone, anywhere at any time . The opportunities to innovate and create a better, more sustainable future through m-government solutions are immense, and SAP is proud to join forces with Etisalat to help make that happen.”
Now in its 33rd year, GITEX Technology Week connects more than 138,000 industry professionals and over 3,500 suppliers from 144 countries across five continents, making it one of the world’s top three ICT exhibitions. This year’s GITEX Technology Week is themed “Where Technology Means Business”.
