Following on from our internal implementation of SAP HANA, as well as very successful demos during customer meetings and at larger events such as SAP TechEd, I would like to talk about the vision we want to achieve with in-memory computing; HANA is part of that change. It is a technology that allows the processing of massive quantities of real-time data in the main memory of the appliance to provide immediate results from an analysis and transaction point of view. So what does it mean? It is all about a huge amount of data that we are now able to process because we now have the technology in place to move 2 or 4 terabytes of data, literally all information into the memory and present that real-time, which would usually take days; the outcome of this process is available in real real-time.

In addition, usage of the in memory the SAP HANA technology is the business intelligence environment so we can analyze the data in real time and also transactions, which means we can integrate the technology in our software to accelerate transactional processing.

So overall, I believe the power of SAP HANA is something exceptional that will definitely change the IT industry going forward.
