SAP’s CeBIT presence was bigger than ever in 2010. For the first time, it included a common stand in Hall 5 where the company and its partners focused in particular on small businesses and midsize companies. Meanwhile, itelligence, BTC, Steeb, and other SAP partners exhibited at additional stands in Hall 4. Those interested were able to obtain detailed information and take a look at SAP’s current software.

Feature Pack 2.5 bei Itelligence

SAP Business ByDesign – the company’s on-demand offering for small businesses and midsize companies – will be available in summer 2010, accompanied by the release of the new Feature Pack (FP) 2.5. The itelligence stand in Hall 4 was one of the exclusive CeBIT locations where attendees could view a test drive of the latest version. With FP 2.5, SAP Business ByDesign now also supports Microsoft’s rich Internet architecture client, Silverlight. This feature is to thank for both the on-demand solution’s revamped GUI and the option of customizing many interface areas to users’ specific needs with just a few mouse-clicks. FP 2.5 also enables SAP partners to enhance the base version of SAP Business ByDesign – available for €133 per month – with their own plug-ins.

In addition, the solution’s GUI now supports the DATEV interface. This means that users can transfer data on human resources and other key areas directly from SAP Business ByDesign to the financial authorities. The solution also makes note of when such posting processes are complete and facilitates integration with software such as Groupware, Microsoft Office, and Lotus Sametime.

Steeb shows off SAP NetWeaver Business Client 3.0

“Just announced and already available” could have been the motto of the SAP subsidiary Steeb during this year’s CeBIT. Slightly hidden on the outer edge of the company’s two-tier stand, SAP NetWeaver Business Client 3.0 was available for attendee perusal. SAP R/3 users’ mouths dropped open at the sight of the software’s reworked user interface; questions quickly followed as to whether it really came from SAP. According to Steeb, the new rich desktop client only requires the current version of SAP ERP and Enhancement Package 4. Three offerings for the midmarket

With the on-demand solution SAP Business ByDesign set for release in summer 2010, SAP now offers three products for small businesses and midsize companies. All three were on display for attendees at SAP’s expansive partner stand in Hall 5. The only caveat: Since Feature Pack 2.5 of SAP Business ByDesign is still in beta testing, the current FP 2.0 was shown.

At the same stand, 28 SAP partners took the opportunity to demonstrate their own software. The IT service provider ITML , for example, showed off its Smart Business Client, which offers SAP users a GUI that borrows the look and feel of Microsoft Office. Meanwhile, All for One Midmarket presented Document Output Management, a solution that automates the flow of documents to be printed in the course of orders or quotations in manufacturing and logistics. Document Output Management is available for €11,000 and requires SAP ERP ECC 6.0.

Smaller partners such as Switzerland’s coresystems ag used the partner stand as a forum for their own portfolios. Specializing in enhancements for SAP Business One, coresystems displayed its own coresuite mobile, which integrates iPhone with this midmarket solution.
