December 1, 2014 by SAP News 14

WALLDORF — SAP SE today announced the availability of the SAP Manufacturing Execution application, the new offering for delivering data integration across operations and built on the SAP HANA platform, making on-premise and cloud analytics a reality for innovative manufacturers. The SAP Manufacturing Execution application includes SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (SAP MII) application and SAP Plant Connectivity software and provides machine-to-machine integration to orchestrate intelligent manufacturing.

As part of the Industry 4.0 initiative, the application leverages the SAP HANA platform, providing global visibility into operations by making manufacturing Big Data more accessible and enabling predictive analytics capabilities. With this advanced problem solving ability and ease of access to manufacturing data, the application is aimed at helping companies make improvements in cost, quality, asset utilization and performance.

“The launch of SAP Manufacturing Execution is helping SAP to close in on the vision of running manufacturing operations in memory,” said Hans Thalbauer, senior vice president, Extended Supply Chain, SAP. “By integrating manufacturing results with real-time feeds into SAP HANA, companies can take advantage of the cloud for orchestrating global performance management.”

SAP Manufacturing Execution offers support for SAP HANA, an enhanced user experience, extended mobility and end-to-end enterprise integration with deeper manufacturing operations transparency. With this release comes the deployment option of SAP MII on SAP HANA, which extends the Internet of Things capabilities of SAP into manufacturing operations.

The utilization of this application provides an extended reach for support across manufacturing processes and broader access to data through mobility improvements. SAP Plant Connectivity simplifies integration at the equipment level and allows direct data feeds to SAP HANA driving Big Data and enabling analytics.
