SAP NEWSBYTE — Sept. 12, 2012 — SAP today announced that it ranked 84 on this year’s InformationWeek 500 – a list of the top technology innovators in the U.S. The annual list was revealed during a gala event held Sept. 11, 2012 at the InformationWeek 500 Conference. SAP Co-CEO Jim Hagemann Snabe delivered the day-two morning keynote, discussing the business impact of innovation brought by in-memory and cloud computing as well as enterprise mobility. The InformationWeek 500 Conference took place Sept. 9-11, 2012, in Dana Point, Calif.

Empowered by the SAP Executive Board, the SAP Global IT organization is a strategic enabler and trusted business partner company-wide. The group provides thought leadership for IT-driven innovation, and initiated the “SAP Runs SAP” program to better drive global IT innovation projects. Core elements of the program include:

  • Showcasing SAP as its first and best reference customer through compelling and game-changing work
  • Collaborating on innovation and product design with SAP standard development
  • Being an early technology adaptor, providing structured feedback and directly influencing product quality
  • Supporting technology innovations that make a difference for customers

“SAP has made strategic commitments to innovations in the IT realm in order to be honored at this level and considered for this prestigious list,” said Oliver Bussmann, chief information officer, SAP AG. “The list highlights what SAP as an IT team has been working toward in recent years with our new strategic direction: supporting our corporate objectives and becoming both a trusted business partner and strategic enabler.”

InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation’s most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of America’s best-known companies. The InformationWeek 500 rankings are unique among corporate rankings as it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
