Launch of Singapore SMB OneSource Center Provides Solution Partners With a Resource to Lower Business Development Costs and Educate Local Customers

SingaporeSAP and Hewlett-Packard (HP), two of the largest and most respected multinational technology corporations with Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore, today announced a partnership to offer solutions to local small and midsize businesses (SMBs). This initiative was showcased by the launch of the SMB OneSource Center, jointly developed by the two companies, which will enable Singapore solution partners to significantly reduce the cost of business development while delivering a “one-stop shop” for potential customers looking for a solution to help them operate more efficiently. This marks the start of a series of Asia-wide initiatives, and a multi-million dollar investment in manpower, management, solutions, and services, that will leverage the companies’ complementary strengths to present SMBs in each market with industry-focused, easy to implement, and affordable solutions.

“More than half of SAP’s customer base in Asia Pacific is made up of companies with sales turnover of below USD100 million,” said Mr. Chan Wai Leong, managing director, SAP Singapore. “Serving customers in this sector over the last twelve years has given us an intimate and thorough understanding of their business and technology needs. The combination of SAP’s and HP’s industry expertise and partners enables the delivery of SMB solutions that are quick to implement, easy to use, and highly scalable.”

“In today’s challenging economy, SMBs in every market are increasingly aware that they need to be as efficient and ROI-driven as the large enterprises they partner and compete with,” said Mr. Chan. “SAP SMB solutions give companies the peace of mind that comes from knowing they are making a long-term investment that will continually generate ROI, such as reduced expenses and increased revenue and profit, as the company grows.”

“HP and SAP have been collaborating for more than ten years in the enterprise market,” said Leong Say Haur, director and Singapore general manager of the HP Enterprise Systems Group (ESG). “This close partnership has allowed HP to build the largest installed base of SAP customers in Singapore. The SAP/HP OneSource Program is a timely extension of the joint value proposition in the SMB space.”

“”HP Singapore has number one market share in the Standard Intel Architecture Server SMB market, according to IDC (Q4 2002), with an extensive channel network,” said Mr. Leong. “Leveraging on HP’s expertise as an ebusiness infrastructure solution provider and SAP Solutions for Small and Midsize Businesses, this program will accelerate our penetration of the SMB market in Singapore. We are confident that our SMB cooperation with SAP’s channel partners will assist us in delivering solutions that are easy to implement, customer-driven, and effective for the market.”

In order to match solutions with the smaller budgets of SMBs, HP will be working with solution partners and SAP to provide financing schemes for tailored solution bundles that cover the cost of hardware, software, implementation and support services. With this tailored and flexible payment system, SMBs own their solutions upfront and finance them monthly over a period of three years.

SMB OneSource Center
The SMB OneSource Center, hosted by HP within their Asia Pacific Solution Center, will provide solution partners with a new resource to present prospective SMB customers with SAP solution demos and best practices. It will enable solution partners to lower the cost of business development by providing them with an ideal location to host SMB companies for workshops, executive briefs, and other meetings throughout each phase of the customer’s decision-making process.

In addition, solution partners will also be able to publicize their services via websites, videos, and brochures on-site while enjoying a host of support services from SAP and HP including market segment identification, telemarketing services, and branding and endorsement for seminars. Taking just four months to complete since initial discussions between HP and SAP began in January, the SMB OneSource Center is located on the first floor of the HP Singapore Alexandra Office.
