SAP APA Adds Over 350 New SMB Customers in 2003—More Than 200% Year-on-Year Growth in New Customer Names

SHANGHAI, ChinaFurther demonstrating momentum gains in the small and medium-sized business (SMB) market in Asia Pacific, SAP Asia Pacific announces new customers, business partners and other successes for its software solutions for SMBs. The new partners and customers helped SAP Asia Pacific generate more than 150 percent growth in SMB software revenue in 2003 compared to 2002; this included 200 percent growth in new customers compared to 2002, with more than 350 new customers during the year. More than 60 organizations across the region joined as SAP Business Partners in 2003, together building more than 20 qualified mySAP™ All-in-One solutions. The announcement was made at SAP’s North Asia/South Asia Field Kick-Off Meeting 2004.

Emerging enterprises such as Dongwoo Fine-Chem, Korea; Adeep Locks, India; Nanjing TaiDian, China; Barcode Sato, Malaysia; and Serial Systems, Singapore have recently chosen SAP’s solutions to achieve greater operational efficiency and establish better internal processes for improved margins.

“Out of the more than 600 new customers we secured across Asia Pacific in 2003, more than 50 percent were SMBs,” said Hans-Peter Klaey, President and CEO, SAP Asia Pacific. “We feel this momentous growth is due to a deep understanding of SMBs’ business needs and our ability to meet these requirements through the mySAP All-in-One and SAP Business One solutions. Our SMB offerings of individually configured, micro-vertical solutions combine SAP’s Best Practices and our Business Partners’ local industry knowledge, giving customers scalable and industry-specific solutions that can immediately address the key challenges they are facing to reap quick return on investments, at an affordable price.”

“After several meetings with many ERP vendors, I realize that SAP, together with their business partners, have the right solution for SMBs like us,” said Mr Jeong Jong Gil, business planning manager, Dongwoo Fine-Chem, Korea. “At Dongwoo Fine-Chem, we are constantly looking out for new business opportunities, introducing new products and expanding into new sectors. With SAP, I am confident we will remain ahead of our competitors as we became more flexible and efficient.”

“We saw in SAP a remarkable level of flexibility and scalability, based upon a very solid and reliable framework,” said Michael Caine, general manager, Massel. “The new system is critical for service delivery, especially in terms of manufacturing the right product at the right time and at the right quality and then shipping it to the right customer on time, every time.”

Continuing The Momentum With SAP Business One
Beginning a regional roll-out to complement the launches of mySAP All-in-One in Asia Pacific, SAP China was the first to launch SAP® Business One in September 2003, followed by launches in the region. An addition to the SAP Solution for SMB, SAP Business One is an affordable and easy-to-implement solution to meet the management needs of companies ranging in size from ten to several hundred employees. This is a simple and powerful solution that addresses accounting, reporting, logistics, and sales force automation needs. It is also one of the only software solutions for small businesses to make customer relationship management (CRM) capabilities an integral and fundamental part of the business automation process.

As part of the SAP Business One launch in China, SAP is now working with Beijing Youngsoft Enterprises Ltd to introduce the solution to 30 cities in mainland China. With 150 employees, 60 percent of which are engaged in research and development, the company offers SAP Business One, consultation and services to small and midsize enterprise and government customers. Beijing Youngsoft Enterprises Ltd is part of the newly launched SAP® Business One Solution Partner Program, a global network of certified partners that will develop new capabilities and product extensions for SAP Business One.

The SAP Solution Partner program for SAP Business One leverages the flexibility of SAP Business One as a simple yet effective business automation software tool as well as the SAP Business One software development kit—one of the most advanced development environments available in the SMB space—for partners to develop applications on SAP Business One. Participating partners will receive training, marketing and other support from SAP, with multiple participation levels to accommodate partners of varying resources and involvement.

“We chose to partner with SAP due to its expertise in the SMB market and the flexibility, scalability and scope of functionality of the SAP Business One solution,” said Mr. Zhang Bin, general manager of Beijing Youngsoft. “The SAP partnership is multi-win situation—we expand our offering with a tight-fit solution to meet our customers’ business needs and help SAP expand the reach of SAP Business One to power the success and growth of China’s small and midsize enterprises.”

SAP® Business One (Chinese version) was also recently recognized with two top awards in China – “Channel Choice Award 2003” and “Most Valuable Product/Solution Editor’s Recommendation Award 2003,” selected by Computer Product and Circulation and Smartpartner magazines respectively. These prestigious awards, highly respected within the channel community, clearly illustrate the success of SAP Business One (Chinese version), which was launched just a few months ago, and has since been adopted by hundreds of enterprises.
