29 ISVs Certified for the Powered by SAP NetWeaver Partner Program within the First Six Months of Launch

SingaporeJust six months following the launch of the ‘Powered by SAP NetWeaver Partner Program’ in Asia Pacific, SAP Asia Pacific today announced that 29 Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) have completed their certification to become Powered by SAP NetWeaver® (PBNW) partners. These Asia Pacific ISVs have already developed a total of 37 PBNW certified solutions collectively, that contribute to the vibrant global ecosystem of partners and developers creating business driven industry-specific solutions based on the open SAP NetWeaver platform.

To date, 855 solutions developed by 522 ISVs worldwide have achieved the ‘Powered by SAP NetWeaver’ or ‘Certified for SAP NetWeaver’ status. A significant reason for this success was the launch of the ‘Industry Value Networks’ process in Q4, 2005 which brings together partners, customers, industry experts and SAP industry solution experts to collaborate in addressing customer pain points through the development of enterprise services in specific vertical industries.

Increased growth momentum through the SAP PBNW Partner Program
SAP Asia Pacific announced the inaugural SAP NetWeaver Excellence Awards in the region in 2005. Two Asia Pacific-based partners – Ruleburst Limited (Australia), Asprecise (Singapore) have been recognized for developing innovative new industry-specific solutions on the SAP NetWeaver platform.

Ruleburst Limited was the winner of the ‘Best New ISV application developed on SAP NetWeaver’ award. Its solution – RuleBurst 7 – allows an organization’s business experts to rapidly and accurately define the rules used to make decisions in the business. Asprecise, winner of the Best New ISV application ported to SAP NetWeaver, is another example of an industry-specific solution where the solution – Easy*Opt – allows organizations in the aerospace industry to optimize their resource planning cycles.

SAP NetWeaver has also enabled increased growth opportunities for existing partners in SAP’s ecosystem, such as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). As a long-standing partner of SAP, it has further enhanced its partnership with the development of two new solutions that have achieved PBNW certification. These solutions have been developed on SAP NetWeaver, using the SAP Web Application Server 6.40.

“TCS is excited about partnering with SAP in Asia Pacific especially in the areas of adaptive manufacturing and the government sector. It has developed good capabilities across 13 countries in the region,” said Mr. Girija Pande, Regional Director for Asia Pacific.

TCS’ INTRA Government Efficiency tool (iWAS), enables the government to move towards a paperless environment which embraces knowledge management (KM), policy based decisions, dynamic workflow management and prioritizing of work in a secured manner for various types of government establishments. This is a framework based tool, which may be customized and implemented in a short time-frame in line with local needs and languages of the governance structure across the region.

The second PBNW solution known as the Enterprise Integration and Control Environment (EntICE), is a rapid application development (RAD) tool for real-time information integration and development of advanced on-line decision support solutions that addresses the needs of the production floor in a manufacturing environment. In addition, TCS has committed over 20,000 training-days to keep its employees updated on SAP NetWeaver consulting.

“TCS has a dedicated team of professionals committed to developing “composites” – preconfigured industry or application-specific software solutions based on the SAP NetWeaver platform which enables rapid implementation and easy customization & support,” said Anil Snehi, Head of eBusiness Practice, TCS. “TCS has brought together its significant strengths on the SAP platform, with its expertise in systems and solutions to create solutions that comprehensively address our global customers’ needs. The iWAS and the EntICE solutions are immediate successes that prove the value-added advantage of the ‘Powered by SAP NetWeaver’ partnership.”

Together with the appointment of Simon Dale to a strategic new position as Chief Technology Officer for Asia Pacific, SAP also announced the appointment of Huang Xin Wei as the new lead to drive Asia Pacific ISV recruitment and joint go-to-market activities. Huang is responsible for recruiting ISVs with the most potential to create next-generation solutions using the open standards-based SAP NetWeaver platform. Huang joins the line-up of veteran IT professionals, that forms the regional SAP NetWeaver team who will further the expansion of SAP NetWeaver’s growth in Asia Pacific.

“SAP is proud of the traction achieved with the leading solution providers in the fastest growing IT region in the world,” said Simon Dale, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, SAP Asia Pacific. “The strides SAP is taking to grow the software industry will strengthen as we work towards doubling Asia’s PBNW partner ecosystem, with ESA as the key enabler of this dynamic market growth.”

SAP NetWeaver: Customer Choice for Ease of Integration and Transparency
Asia Pacific is the fastest growing region in the world for the SAP Developer Network (SDN) with a total of 60,000 unique members at the end of 2005 – a record 70 percent increase in membership over 2004. The SDN community worldwide has more than 350,000 members today. SAP Asia Pacific has also completed the localization of the developer portal into Chinese, Japanese and Korean to target developers in these strategic markets to expand the future reach of SDN in 2006.

SAP’s NetWeaver license revenue grew more than 80 percent year on year, compared with 2004. This was largely due to increased adoption of the SAP Exchange Infrastructure (SAP XI), SAP Master Data Management (SAP MDM), SAP Analytics and the deployment of custom developed Java applications on SAP NetWeaver. Growth has been driven by customer appreciation of the business model innovation that SAP NetWeaver provides. SAP NetWeaver is emerging as the architecture for future Web Services for customers supported by the expansion of the SAP NetWeaver Asia Pacific developer and partner communities and the creation of specialized, PBNW applications by ISVs.

SAP Asia Pacific also announced the winners of the SAP NetWeaver Customer-Partner Excellence awards that will be presented at today’s Field Kick Off Meeting and Partner Congress 2006. A total of 7 Awards of Excellence for SAP NetWeaver are given out jointly to customers and partners who have successfully implemented SAP NetWeaver in a “live” project.
