plain English guide illustrates benefits for business users

LondonSAP has launched an A-Z guide to understanding and implementing
enterprise portals.

Aimed at senior business managers within medium to large enterprises, the guide looks at what portals are, how they can be used and what benefits they offer. It covers key areas such as security, usability and access, as well as looking at how productivity and efficiency can be maximised through their use.

It is designed to provide decision-makers with an overview of the technology without going into technical details.

“Many people are still unclear about how portal technology works and what benefits implementing an enterprise portal can bring to a business,” said Tara Allison, solutions marketing manager, SAP UK.

“Butler Group forecasts that sales of enterprise portals will grow dramatically in the next few years*, reaching $4 billion by 2005. There is no doubt that portals will be one of the growth technologies but with so many different definitions and categories, the concept still confuses a lot of people.”

“This guide will help businesses decide if portals are worth investigating and enable them to ask the right questions of the portal vendors,” she said.
