national survey ranks SAP in top 15 companies to work for in Britain

LondonIt may have been a difficult year for the technology industry, but this week SAP UK & Ireland was rewarded for its continued commitment to its staff when it received a national accolade for being one of Britain’s best employers.

Sponsored by the DTI and Learndirect, and compiled by The Sunday Times, the survey placed SAP UK & Ireland 11th overall and in the top two
software companies.

‘The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For’ award is the only survey to rank British based companies on the basis of what their employees say. Of the SAP respondents, 88% agreed that they looked forward to going to work each day, putting the company third in the UK. The company also ranked in the top ten in terms of fair pay, and staff belief in management’s confidence in their ability.

“Large companies have a reputation for being hierarchical, inflexible and more concerned with numbers than employees,” said Lisa Clark, HR director at SAP UK and Ireland. “At SAP we strive to be different. External clubs and activities bring people together, and a flexible approach to working hours enables staff to fit work around their lives rather than the other
way around.”

The Sunday Times quoted one SAP employee endorsing this sentiment by saying: “Despite its huge growth, SAP has retained the character, drive and friendliness of a family firm.”

“There is a strong link between creating a good working environment and being a well run, profitable business. It makes sense that customers want to work with happy, motivated staff,” added Clark.

“Our people are the main reason that we have continued to grow in the face of the recent economic downturn and with their support we can expect our success to continue.”
