SAP bolsters public sector expertise through strategic appointment

LondonSAP has appointed Mark Gibbison as its public sector Industry Principal. Drawing on his extensive public sector expertise, Mark will advise SAP customers on how to maximise the benefits of their technology use.

Building on SAP’s successes in 2005, Mark will use his deep knowledge of SAP to set the standard for working with local government. Mark’s specialist areas are in health, higher education and local government. He will promote an understanding between these three areas in order to encourage the use of cross sector shared service models.

“SAP has established itself as the de facto standard technology solution in the public sector especially within local government,” said Mark Gibbison, “I have joined the company at an exciting stage and have ambitious plans to aid the transformation of local government departments. I am committed to drive growth in this area and look forward to replicating SAP’s success with further implementations.”

Mark moves to SAP from Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council (TMBC) where he was Director of IT and latterly corporate policy and performance. Having overseen the implementation and roll-out of several SAP solutions during his seven years in employment there, he has a thorough knowledge of the benefits of integration that the systems provide. His appointment underlines SAP’s commitment to share best practice across UK Local Government – drawing on recent successful SAP implementations at Trafford, Hampshire, Glasgow and Southwark, to name a few.

SAP now has over 40 local government customers including some of the largest councils such as Liverpool, Glasgow, Birmingham and Manchester.
