SAP UK & Ireland Brings Partners together for Charity Ball at McLaren Technology Centre

November 19, 2014 by SAP News 0

SAP NEWSBYTESAP SE (NYSE: SAP) announces today that SAP UK & Ireland has raised over £100,000 to support the work of the Good Future and Hope Foundation that aims to change the lives of disadvantaged children in developing countries. The inaugural SAP UK & Ireland Partner Charity Ball took place on Thursday 6th November at the McLaren Technology Centre in Surrey.

The Good Future and Hope Foundation cares for orphans and street children. It has established two safe havens in Uganda and Myanmar so far, offering basic amenities and access to healthcare and education. Set up by Hannes Liebe, Chief Operating Officer of SAP Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and his wife Viera in 2011, the charity currently focuses on the construction of new schools. The funds raised at the SAP UK & Ireland Partner Charity Ball will go towards building a new school at an orphanage in Uganda.

The charity ball was an opportunity for SAP partners to network with members of SAP’s global leadership as well as SAP UK & Ireland executives. Attendees included Franck Cohen, President of SAP EMEA, Darren Roos, Chief Operating Officer of SAP EMEA and Cormac Watters, Managing Director of SAP UK & Ireland.

“With more than 130 partners and their customers in attendance, this charity ball was a further demonstration of the strength of our growing ecosystem,” said Darren Roos. “I’d like to thank each of our partners who donated so generously to this great cause. The funds raised will be crucial in helping the Good Future and Hope Foundation to equip the residents of the orphanage and children in nearby villages with the skills they need to succeed, building a brighter future for those that need it the most.”

Jonathan Neale, COO of McLaren Racing said: “We are extremely proud to have been able to support this worthy cause and host such an exciting event. SAP has been able to raise a substantial amount of money for charity and I hope that being here at the McLaren Technology Centre inspired people to give just that little bit extra. Having learned about the Good Future and Hope Foundation, I am sure that every penny donated will make a real difference to the children’s lives.”

McLaren Group and SAP have had a co-innovation partnership since 1997. Through the use of SAP solutions, including HANA Enterprise Cloud, McLaren aims to boost its agility and flexibility to improve operational efficiencies. SAP and the McLaren Mercedes Formula One team are also working to harness real-time data analytics to help the team shave off milliseconds on the racetrack.
