Unified Inbox Leverages SAP HANA to Provide Customers Better Email Inbox Control

WALLDORF — SAP SE today announced that Unified Inbox, a participant of the SAP Startup Focus program, is leveraging the SAP HANA platform for its sorting mechanism InboxRank and the Unified Inbox mobile app. Unified Inbox is a provider of a cloud-based unified communication and social collaboration platform that centralizes external conversations, social engagement and internal team collaboration into one single experience across desktop and mobile devices.

“Continued innovations in SAP HANA, combined with the SAP Startup Focus program’s dedication to openness and co-innovation, quickly brings new ideas to market to benefit customers,” said Steve Lucas, president, Platform Solutions, SAP. “The program spurs innovation and provides startups with the technology, support, resources, and community they need in order to port their applications to SAP HANA and go to market.”

Based on a smart algorithm to support inbox management capabilities, InboxRank gives users better control of their inboxes. Leveraging SAP HANA, InboxRank allows information workers and professionals to manage their personal priorities as well as their whole unified communications stream, which includes social media, email, SMS, instant messaging and over the top (OTT) players.

Dynamically changing algorithms that constantly handle inbox data in real time while adjusting to user desires and behaviors is a complex and critical undertaking, the Unified Inbox mobile app is a next-generation communication-as-a-service platform using SAP HANA software to help address these issues.

“We chose to leverage SAP HANA in our Unified Inbox app, as we could see how well it handled Big Data, predictive analytics and real-time processing of algorithms on top of vast amounts of information from different sources,” said Toby Ruckert, founder and chief executive officer, Unified Inbox.

Unified Inbox has been a member of the SAP Startup Focus program since 2013. The program supports startups in developing new applications on SAP HANA. SAP HANA platform streamlines analytics, planning and predictive and sentiment assessments to allow business to operate in real time. The SAP Startup Focus program is an accelerator for Big Data, predictive and real-time analytics startups. More than 1,500 startups are participating in the program to date and have developed distinct SAP HANA-based use-cases from gaming to retail to finance and manufacturing.
