Venezuela will be holding its presidential elections on Sunday, April 14. The two candidates, Henrique Capriles and Nicolas Maduro, have very different views about the future of the country. Both however have been successful in using social media to galvanize voter enthusiasm for their campaigns.
To help regional journalists track social network sentiment for each of the candidates, the SAP Latin America & Caribbean communications team has developed a dynamic dashboard using sentiment analysis based on SAP HANA and SAP BusinessObjects technologies.
Available on SAP’s Venezuela Presidential Elections 2013 microsite, this simple yet comprehensive dashboard reveals positive and negative trends for both candidates, numbers of posts and impressions, and hashtag clouds. While the data is not meant to indicate a voting trend or predict an outcome, it offers interesting aspects from a social media content perspective.
