The opening, which was scheduled for 10 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, May 13, 2004, had to be conducted 15 minutes earlier, as attendees had overcrowded the foyer area of the Shangri-La hotel Ballroom Jakarta. The event – which targeted 300 attendees – generated nearly 500 visitors representing some 300 companies.
The event commenced with a dramatic performance, which told the story of Mr. Chandra, the owner of a growing packaged goods distribution company. After the ribbon-cutting ceremony of this company, the audience was led inside the ballroom, which was decorated with shelves containing packaged food and beverages. Mr. Chandra’s problems were acted out one by one: poor customer service, poor financial control, poor inventory management, poor visibility. The business owner is deeply distressed and infuriated – yet he is enlightened as Krish Datta, Managing Director of SAP Indonesia – accompanied by light, smoke and music effects – delivers SAP Business One to him.
“The problems you have just witnessed in the drama occur world-wide,” said Krish Datta in his opening speech. “On behalf of SAP, I am truly delighted to offer a reliable solution at an affordable price in order to address such problems and help small companies become more competitive, especially when facing their larger counterparts”.
Showing the world of SAP Business One
The event continued with several key presentations including “SAP Achievement in SMB” by Singgih Wandojo, Marketing and Channel Director of SAP Indonesia , which demonstrated why SAP is ideal for growing businesses. The next topic was “SAP Business One: a complete and integrated solution for your growing business” by Subhan Novianda, SAP Indonesia’s Solutions Architect, which showed how SAP Business One is a complete and integrated solution which can assist SMBs in their day-to-day operation. Finally, “Managing your Business with SAP Business One”, also conducted by Subhan, showed that SAP Business One can help SMBs increase revenue and curb costs. Before the end of the launch, Sugiharto Jakinsjah, the Alliance and Business Manager, called all 11 certified SAP Business One partners onto the stage and presented them with their certificates.
Most visitors stayed until the end of the program. The response was overwhelmingly positive. “An excellent show!” said Martinus, Director of PT. Suryajaya, one of the prospects identified. “I believe SAP Business One is suitable for our company, and we would be proud to be associated with SAP,” he added. The Senior MIS Manager of PT. Martha Tilaar, another prospect that will implement SAP Business One within the next 6 months, said “the launch today was very well-organized. SAP Business One seems like a high-quality product… let’s prove it!”
In total, approximately 100 leads were identified from the feedback forms collected. This is certainly a perfect time to introduce SAP Business One to the Indonesian market. In Jakarta alone, at least 5,000 companies fall into the SMB segment.
