Freudenberg IT Runs SAP Solutions of Leading Household Products Company

The outsourcing initiative is part of FHP’s PATH (process, application, teamwork & harmonization) program, launched to reorganize the company and standardize its business processes around the globe. To support those processes, FHP has implemented the Financial Accounting, Materials Management, Production Planning, and Sales & Distribution modules from SAP R/3 Enterprise, and built a data warehouse based on SAP BW 3.1. Kicked off in 2003, the systems’ phased international rollout is set to be completed by late 2006, when approximately 700 users worldwide will be working with the new processes and applications. Some 110 FHP employees based in Portugal and Spain have been using the systems hosted at Freudenberg IT’s computer center since early 2004. The company, known all over the world for its “Vileda” brand of cleaning products, considers its PATH program to be the key to its strategic focus on increased competitiveness and excellence in customer service.
“Outsourcing our SAP solutions is part of FHP’s efforts to focus its resources on implementing and supporting the new harmonized global business processes, while ensuring global IT operations through computer centers operating on a follow-the-sun principle,” says Dr. Harald Berger, Director IT International at FHP. “As an experienced hosting provider, Freudenberg IT offers complete coverage of our requirements, as well as providing cost-effective service coupled with long-term sustainability of our existing system infrastructure.”
The FHP hosting contract is the second SAP R/3 outsourcing deal won by Freudenberg IT during the first quarter of 2004. In its three computer centers – two in Weinheim, Germany, one in Durham, USA – Freudenberg IT operates some 100 SAP systems serving more than 10,000 users. FHP will be the first customer to benefit from a fourth hosting facility that Freudenberg IT plans to open in Shanghai in 2005 to deliver on-site application support to FHP employees working in Asian time zones. FHP has scheduled its system rollout in Asia for 2005/06. “By winning over FHP, we have secured our first major client for Freudenberg IT’s Shanghai computer center. We look forward to meeting the challenge of organizing worldwide systems operation and building a communications link, as well as guaranteeing round-the-clock availability of both,” says Timm Marheine, Freudenberg IT’s Senior Vice President for the hosting business unit.
