The company selected IDS Scheer’s ARIS SmartPath for Foods/Beverages solution, incorporating SAP Best Practices for Fast Moving Consumer Goods, with ARIS-based industry-specific reference models and consulting services.
Founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1919, Community Coffee is an importer and roaster of premium quality coffees that are distributed to grocery stores, offices, restaurants, hotels and convenience stores in the Southeast United States. The company operates 34 specialty coffeehouse locations in Louisiana and ships products to customers nationwide who shop online.
Prior to working with IDS Scheer, Community Coffee had been using various legacy systems to manage its business operations. “We hope to gain Consumer Goods best practices through this implementation that will drive our business growth,” said Annette Vaccaro, CFO, Community Coffee. According to Vaccaro, about 260 Community Coffee employees are using the new system. Led by Community Coffee Project Manager David Fahr, the IDS Scheer team worked in collaboration to roll this out to over 50 distribution and retail locations and to several remote sales team members. The implementation go-live date was July 1, 2006.
“Consumer Goods industry expertise was one of the main drivers for Community Coffee’s selection of our ARIS SmartPath solution. Plus, we were able to provide them with relevant consumer goods customer success stories to guide their decision,” said John Haddad, managing director of IDS Scheer SME. “Because ARIS SmartPath provides a process-based foundation based on proven best practices, this implementation will enable Community Coffee to achieve its goal of being the best coffee company in America.”
As a result of the implementation, Community Coffee hopes to gain the following benefits:
- Improved customer service
- Better inventory control
- Increased profitability
- Fully integrated system across the entire organization
- Consolidation of financial processes
