Accenture will provide IT service desk support for 34 ALTANA Chemie production facilities and 42 research and service laboratories worldwide. ALTANA Chemie also selected Accenture to coordinate and provide support for SAP application maintenance. Accenture will support approximately 3,000 IT users and about 2,000 SAP users around the world and provide services in English, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin and Spanish. “We chose to partner with Accenture based on its proven track record in IT outsourcing, service-desk and application maintenance, its global footprint, its deep knowledge of the chemical industry, and its fit and alignment with ALTANA Chemie’s culture and values,” said Bernhard Koch, head of IT ALTANA Chemie.
“With the chemicals industry becoming increasingly competitive, the outsourcing model is a cost-effective answer for companies that want to dramatically improve internal functions such as IT,” said Robert Jung, a senior executive and head of Accenture’s Chemicals industry group in Northern Europe. “This agreement should allow ALTANA Chemie’s management team to further sharpen its focus on driving the business forward”, Koch added. “With Accenture’s Global Delivery Network we are able to provide the scale and a broad range of technology and language skills for service delivery in this important undertaking, as well as all the specialization needed by ALTANA specific to the chemicals industry,” said Basilio Rueda, senior managing director of Accenture’s Global Delivery Network.
