The IT service provider will operate the SAP infrastructure at its own data center for over 1,000 users, and will also manage Pfleiderer’s wide area network (WAN). The contract, with an initial term of three years, is worth some four million Euros. Pfleiderer AG is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of engineered wood, treated surface materials and laminate flooring. The company’s future service provider not only had to demonstrate the ability to reliably operate an IT landscape spanning multiple sites; they also had to offer flexible outsourcing agreements with the scalability required to accommodate changing business and IT needs. TDS has been tasked with operating (application hosting) SAP systems for materials management, production, financial accounting and controlling, as well as other solutions, including fax and archiving systems. The IT specialist will also operate the WAN that links 24 sites with Pfleiderer’s head office.
Expert customer-specific advice
The migration project kicks off in January 2007, and is scheduled for completion in June – when TDS will take over from the previous service provider, and handle ongoing operation of SAP systems at its Neckarsulm data center. “From the very outset, we appreciated the high-quality advice TDS provided,” explains Martin Fuchs, head of the IT unit at Pfleiderer’s Western Europe business center. “Not just because of TDS’s pragmatic approach and focus on results, but also because of the sound proposals for improvements they made during the bidding phase.” Fuchs continues: “We saw that the TDS specialists understood our specific requirements, and could deliver the right solutions for us.”
