December 10, 2008. SAP Acts on DSAG Proposals

The persistent demands of the German-speaking SAP User Group (DSAG) for alternatives to the standardized maintenance model (SAP Enterprise Support) are making an impact: SAP has withdrawn cancelations of existing maintenance contracts sent to customer segments in Germany and Austria during the year. As a result, the planned price increase for 2009 no longer applies for these customers. They will also be allowed to choose between SAP Enterprise Support and Standard Support. This means that both of DSAG’s demands – to defer SAP Enterprise Support and retain an optional support model – have been met for these customers. DSAG is continuing to apply pressure for Swiss users.

December 9, 2008. New Market Portal for SAP Customers

With, Walldorf-based ISV ecoNet is showcasing an interactive portal for companies looking for add-on solutions and services to expand and maintain their SAP environment. Providing specific answers to specific questions, the portal offers a selection of products and comparable solution providers on an individual basis. The platform also provides the latest information, expert contributions and a job portal.

December 2, 2008. Hanse Orga Now SAP Software Solution Partner

In June 2008, Hanse Orga was awarded “SAP Certified – Powered by SAP NetWeaver” SAP certification for its “Finance Solutions 4.0”. The Hamburg-based software solutions expert for corporate finance management and financial accounting has now also been officially recognized as an SAP Software Solution Partner. Through this partnership, the company has access to information on the latest SAP technologies and interface definitions early on. Users of Hanse Orga solutions include ThyssenKrupp, Philips and DuPont de Nemours.

December 1, 2008. cundus businessReporting

cundus, a consulting and software company and Business Intelligence specialist from Duisburg, Germany, has announced the launch of cundus businessReporting. The reporting tool connects company data and business or status reports. As an SAP-certified add-on for SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence (SAP NetWeaver BI), it automatically integrates data from consolidation systems and other data sources.

December 1, 2008. 12th SAP-IBIS Conference in January 2009

The IBIS Prof. Thome conference will be held on January 26 and 27, 2009 in the Marienberg Fortress in Wurzburg, Germany. The slogan of this year’s conference is “Find, understand and use business potential in SAP solutions”. Speakers will include SAP Executive Board member Peter Zencke, who is due to retire at the end of this year, and Peter Lorenz, Head of SAP SME Solutions. The conference program includes a further 21 presentations on topics such as application management (SAP Solution Manager and ITIL), business process management and innovations from development (SAP Business ByDesign and SAP Business Suite).

December 1, 2008. Implico Implements SAP and OpenTAS at Topaz

Ireland’s largest fuels business Topaz embarked on its SAP implementation in December. The project scope also includes two high-end software products for the oil and gas industry developed by Implico, namely OpenTAS and SAP Oil & Gas Secondary Distribution (SAP for O&G). Topaz will thus benefit from a highly integrated system that will supply 330 service stations and provide connectivity to five depots.

November 27, 2008. Electronic Personnel Records and Contract Authoring

Circle Unlimited’s cuContract Authoring software solution links professional management of personnel records based on SAP with Contract Authoring. Using Contract Authoring, you can automatically generate documents in MS Word format both for standard correspondence, such as certificates, and for contracts. In this way, the creation of all personnel-related documents can be automated. The solution cuContract Authoring can be completely integrated in the existing SAP system and uses the ArchiveLink interface for audit-proof document storage. No additional servers and resources are required.

November 26, 2008. Saving on Bills with tangro

Heidelberg-based tangro provides add-ons for inbound document processing in SAP solutions. The tangro Invoice Management (tangro IM) solution allows inbound invoices to be processed directly in the SAP system. Moreover, tangro IM supports invoice documents that are paper-based, scanned and read with OCR (optical character recognition), PDF invoices received by e-mail and invoices made available electronically in IDoc format.

November 21, 2008. Workshop: Integrating Business Objects Functions

REALTECH is enhancing its Business Intelligence services by offering consulting services specifically for solutions of Business Objects, an SAP company. To do this, the SAP specialist from Walldorf, Germany, is offering a workshop starting January 2009 aimed at addressing issues regarding implementing and using the solutions. The workshop will focus in particular on integrating BusinessObjects functions in SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence (SAP NetWeaver BI).

November 19, 2008. variatec BX Now has “SAP Certified Integration” Status

SAP Labs India has announced the successful certification of variatec BX for “SAP Certified Integration”. The variatec solution supports industry-specific business processes of industrial companies with discrete manufacturing. variatec BX is based on SAP Business One capabilities in the areas of financial accounting, sales, purchasing and service and is seamlessly integrated in SAP Business One.

November 18, 2008. SAP Resells Invoice Processing by Open Text

As part of an extended sales partnership with the content management provider Open Text, SAP is to resell the Open Text Vendor Invoice Management (VIM) solution. The invoice processing application will be offered under the name SAP Invoice Management application by Open Text. It enhances the application portfolio for SAP ERP, which supports all financial processes in companies, enabling them to optimize their financial supply chain. SAP Invoice Management is available now.

In the course of this agreement, SAP will also resell Open Text’s document capture solution Invoice Capture Center under the name optical character recognition (OCR) option for SAP Invoice Management. Companies can use this to digitalize their paper-based invoices and thus reduce costs by managing invoices electronically.

November 17, 2008. BPM Framework for Boehringer Ingelheim

The pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim is developing a company-wide Business Process Management (BPM) framework with standard conventions together with IDS Scheer, the solution provider for BPM. The objective of Boehringer Ingelheim is to increase the transparency in the group by describing existing business processes using ARIS Business Architect (Web-based software for BPM). This will increase the speed and efficiency with which new processes can be implemented worldwide.

It will also enable Boehringer Ingelheim to react more flexibly to the changing market requirements in the pharmaceutical sector. At ARIS ProcessWorld in Berlin, the company received the Business Process Excellence (BPE) Award 2008 in the Enterprise BPM category for its consistent and complete implementation of the BPM concept.
