Day One Recap: SAP Influencer Summit

Yesterday at SAP Influencer Summit 2010, SAP Executive Board Member Vishal Sikka outlined the company’s vision to “simplify, innovate and evolve” customers’ business systems and that message would continue to resonate throughout the remainder of the day’s sessions, which explored how these themes applied to organizations’ on-premise, on-demand and on-device solutions.

“Our fundamental endeavor,” Sikka said, “is to deliver innovation that does not disrupt what’s in the enterprise.” Examples of such innovation include the new enterprise edition of SAP StreamWork and SAP HANA (see also: technical proof points).

During this afternoon’s business analytics deep-dive session, Stephanie Buscemi and Sanjay Poonen launched “Business Analytics at SAP EcoHub” – a single destination providing the most comprehensive set of business analytics solutions available in the market today – and previewed the highly anticipated forthcoming releases of SAP BusinessObjects BI and EIM 4.0. Illustrating how SAP continues to innovate in new areas, the presenters also conducted live demonstrations with Twitter to show how text analytics and sentiment analysis can be applied to bring relevant content residing on social networks into business applications for better customer relationship management (CRM).

Many sessions highlighted one of today’s most prevalent themes, mobility, as an important growth area – drawing upon the expertise and technology of Sybase. Be sure to check out the SAP Influencer Summit newsroom and follow the #SAPSummit Twitter hashtag for event insights.
