SAP and RheinEnergie, one of the largest municipal energy suppliers in Germany, are launching a first-of-a-kind pilot project in Germany: The energy provider plans to install 30,000 “smart meters” for its customers in the Cologne area by December 2011. The necessary IT infrastructure joining the meters to the business software back end will be provided by SAP AMI Integration for Utilities software. Read the press release.
