Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year we are all being protected by a range of government agencies. One of the cornerstones for their success and therefore our safety is being able to quickly ingest, analyze and act upon intelligence. For public safety and security agencies, being able to anticipate and decide better can literally mean the difference between life and death.
Today’s reality for intelligence management means that agencies need to quickly derive meaning from complex data and information sources, through visualization and link analysis tools. Many of the high-profile security and investigative successes will often cite the use of such tools as one of the decisive factors in making an intelligence breakthrough.
Our industry, our customers and partners identified “intelligence analysis” as a key business need for them. When we looked at the requirements and assessed the existing SAP portfolio, we identified a whitespace. Looking at the market for visual analytics, we recognized this was a growing and new space for investment. Just seeing the value government placed around visual analytics made partnering in this space critical to our long-term “Intelligence Community” success in public sector. We had some of the components for an end-to-end “intelligence analysis” solution but missed some vital elements.
There were several companies in this space, among them Palantir – a cool, exciting and rapidly growing company based in Palo Alto. We liked working with them and in March 2010 we started the process for a reseller agreement. A few weeks ago we concluded all the final processes and now we have an exciting, mature and well-referenced new solution that SAP can sell.
We are reselling Palantir under the SAP solution name, “SAP Intelligence Analysis for Public Sector by Palantir.” For us this is a fantastic story! Within 12 months we have new product on our books! No development was required, there will be no ramp up; the solution is ready to sell and already well-established in the market. The solution go to market (GTM) has just started.
The solution can be sold as a standalone or with SAP BusinessObjects Text Analysis, which is already integrated.
It targets public sector agencies with a mission around public safety and security, defense and fraud management. The types of scenarios the solution addresses include cyber security, counter-terrorism, border protection, fraud detection, money laundering, organized crime, disaster management, pandemic tracking, IED detection, crime pattern analysis and fire prevention.
We are all pretty excited – this is co-innovation at its best.
So now the hard work begins, scaling for growth, success and revenue to exceed expectations: solutions GTM!
