WALLDORF — SAP today announced that SAP HANA Cloud Portal, formerly called the SAP NetWeaver Cloud portal, was recently evaluated by Gartner Inc. The cloud- and SAP HANA platform-based portal solution was built from the outset for the use on mobile devices and allows developers to quickly build impactful, highly scalable applications that leverage embedded analytics and the massive speed and scale of SAP HANA.
The Gartner report, “SAP NetWeaver Cloud Portal Is a Front End for SAP Innovation,” looks at how portal strategy leaders can leverage the on-demand portal to help ensure a unified strategy and address the demands generated from cloud, mobile and information trends.

- Innovation: For line of business (LOB), SAP HANA Cloud Portal enables business users to quickly create attractive external or internal sites, built with social capabilities, unstructured content and SAP® applications, with minimal IT involvement.

“Organizations seem to be on a perpetual quest for portal offerings that can serve three broad constituencies: IT organizations, business leaders and end users,” Gartner Research Director Jim Murphy wrote in the report. “The perfect portal offering would serve at once as a development and delivery platform for IT; as a means to engage employees, customers and partners for business influencers; and as a flexible environment for knowledge management and collaboration for end users. While most early portal products were tools for IT, organizations are under increasing pressure to provide more autonomy — albeit under the continued aegis of corporate security and governance — to business and end users.”
