Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn. – Benjamin Franklin
SAP is working with ExpertIG on the Mobile Apps 4 Charity initiative, an opportunity for professionals within the SAP community to come together and make a positive impact on the people and initiatives that charitable organizations support with the help of mobile technology from SAP. At the kick off at SAP TechEd Las Vegas this week, attendees were excited to sign up and offer their efforts to help this great initiative. With volunteers of all kinds, ExpertIG will lead teams in the development of apps to help charities operate better. Over the course of the next few months, volunteer teams will be formed, followed by the creation of the apps that will be showcased at SAPPHIRE NOW in 2014.
In a first step, Mobile Apps 4 Charity announced Challenger Center and Schools for the Children of the World to the initiative. Challenger Center engages students and teachers in hands-on exploration and discovery opportunities that strengthen knowledge in science and technology. Volunteer developers will build apps for use in the Challenger Learning Centers, which give students the chance to become astronauts and engineers and solve real-world problems. Schools for Children of the World works in partnership with the private, public and non-profit sectors at the local, national and international levels to create quality learning environments in developing countries and help communities in under-developed countries improve educational opportunities for their children. Developers assigned to those initiatives will help develop apps for contributing to planning and design assistance, project coordination, construction materials and financial oversight on projects.
