WALLDORF — SAP AG today announced the appointment of Björn Goerke as chief information officer (CIO) and head of the SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud organization, effective immediately. In this dual role, he will be responsible for the company’s cross-departmental IT function, as well as the delivery of cloud services globally. By redefining the traditional role of CIO, Goerke will be able to leverage in-house cloud experiences to demonstrate to customers how businesses benefit from SAP innovation delivered via the cloud. He will report directly to Gerhard Oswald, member of the Executive Board of SAP AG.

Since joining SAP in 1995, Goerke has held multiple executive positions, including head of research and development for the SAP NetWeaver platform and the SAP HANA Cloud Platform, overseeing an organization of 2,000 employees across the SAP Labs network in more than five countries. He has a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Karlsruhe.
