WALLDORF — SAP AG and the Management Innovation eXchange (MIX) today announced the M-Prize winners of the “Unlimited Human Potential Challenge,” a global ideas contest focused on finding actionable solutions to pressing management problems. Selected for demonstrating how emerging digital technologies and the principles embedded within them can produce radically new approaches to unlocking human potential, the winners are:

The Unlimited Human Potential Challenge was hosted by the MIX, an open innovation project aimed at reinventing management for the 21st century. Among the 109 total entries from 23 countries, winners were selected by a global panel of prominent entrepreneurs, influencers and thought leaders, including Professor Gary Hamel, MIX co-founder and author of “The Future of Management” and “What Matters Now.”
“Human beings who work inside every kind of organization possess unlimited potential, yet most organizations are unable to tap into it due to a series of self-imposed boundaries,” said Hamel. “Unlocking this potential means challenging the many assumptions we have about work today. The M-Prize winners represent the most progressive technologies, practices and ideas for unleashing and mobilizing human capability, wherever it exists.”
Participants submitted their ideas online via a crowdsourcing platform created by the MIX. Entries were made either in the form of a real-world case study of management innovation or a hack, a bold idea for tackling a critical management challenge. Each winner has earned the chance to be recognized at SAPPHIRE NOW, being held June 3-5, 2014, and at the MIX Mashup, being held November 18-20, 2014.
Entries from the pool of finalists have also been chosen to receive additional prizes, based on their potential to produce a viable app, product, company or movement. These “Idea Accelerator” prizes include a design thinking workshop with experts from SAP Labs, a mentoring session with executives from SAP Ventures and introductions to business incubators or angel investors in the SAP Ventures network.
“Research shows that, around the globe, fewer than 20 percent of employees are truly engaged in their work. This has profound implications for leadership, management and how we organize in the workplace,” said Jonathan Becher, chief marketing officer, SAP. “The M-Prize shines a spotlight on how we can unleash human potential and improve people’s lives at work in a meaningful way. These winners have identified compelling ideas to shape the future of business.”
Winners will be featured at SAPPHIRE NOW during the Future of Work Forum session, “Create a Company That’s Fit for the Future by Tapping Human Potential.”
