Leading healthcare firm McKesson is reaping the benefits of real-time data analysis with the successful migration of SAP Business Warehouse (SAP BW) to be powered by SAP HANA. By analyzing business information in real time, McKesson is now able to make adjustments quickly and stay on top of the complexities inherent in its market.
McKesson established three major KPIs to measure the success of the project: performance, operational efficiencies, and data growth. Now that it is live with SAP BW powered by SAP HANA, McKesson reports that it has reduced its batch schedule by 30 percent; it has improved performance on queries substantially, with 85 percent of queries running at least 30 percent faster; and it has reduced its load of data into SAP BW by 30-40 percent. Project Team Comprises Best of Both Worlds
A long-time customer of SAP, McKesson worked collaboratively together with SAP MaxAttention and SAP certified partner Comerit on the project. Cynthia Strickland, Senior Director, McKesson IT, was pleased with the varied expertise and perspectives within the collective project team, saying, “It was the best of both worlds.”
Working with Comerit, a BUILD partner in the SAP PartnerEdge program that is known for its extensive experience with SAP HANA, gave McKesson confidence in the project’s success. “It is easier going into a project with an SAP certified partner because they have the best practices for using the software,” Strickland says. “They also provide the key relationships. The end measurement, though, is we went live successfully.”
