Apple and SAP joined forces earlier this year to revolutionize the mobile work experience, and drive innovation for companies of all sizes.
In a video interview at SAP TechEd in Las Vegas, Thomas Grassl, vice president and head of Developer Relations at SAP, provided an exclusive look at the very first results of the partnership with a demo of an example app for a Maintenance Asset Worker.
This mobile app showcases some of the capabilities for native enterprise application development. Combining the power of native iOS with SAP S/4HANA and SAP HANA Cloud Platform, plus the user experience of SAP Fiori, the app seamlessly connects timely, relevant, accurate data from assets to enterprise business processes for information sharing company-wide and better business outcomes.
Using Data for Business Results
Making sure workers have the real-time data they need to get the job done has become a mandate for every organization, especially asset intensive industries like utilities. According to SAP Performance Benchmarking studies, utility companies that excel in asset performance management using predictive and preventive maintenance can increase operating margins by 50 percent and decrease maintenance costs by over 30 percent. When maintenance planning and scheduling factor in skill levels and job requirements, these companies can reduce inventory by over 40 percent. As the first result of the exciting partnership between Apple and SAP, the Maintenance Asset Worker app is just the beginning of industry transformation.
