SAP is excited to have former WTA World No.1, Angelique Kerber as a brand ambassador.
Editor’s note: This story was updated on February 27, 2018, to reflect Angelique Kerber’s current playing career.
Kerber and her coach were early adopters of SAP Tennis Analytics for coaches technology to help analyze her performance leading into and during WTA matches.
“We sit down together before the match to discuss the tactics against the next opponent,” Kerber said. “He’s able to explain with the technology where I can have more chances to go for it, and see how my opponents have been playing their matches that week.”
Kerber has been a key contributor of feedback on the application for the past couple of years, enabling SAP to implement strategic updates to the application that make it as valuable and helpful to the players as possible.
“Angie Kerber is an incredible tennis player, and she is exactly the kind of partner that we look for both on and off the court,” said Jenni Lewis, SAP Tennis Lead for WTA.
Born in Bremen, Germany, Kerber started playing tennis at the young age of three. After her WTA debut in 2003, she rose to prominence in 2011 upon reaching the semifinals of the US Open. The German became WTA World No. 1 in August 2016, an exciting year that saw her win both the Australian Open and US Open while making the Wimbledon Final as well. Heading into the 2018 season, Kerber has 10 career WTA titles to her name.
Growing up in Germany, Kerber has always been aware of SAP and its mission. “It feels very good to be a part of the great team from SAP. It’s an honor for me to be an ambassador for this amazing company,” Kerber added. Her pure talent and mental fortitude combined with SAP Tennis Analytics for coaches, delivers the combination for success and the perfect formula for an amazing partnership.
