#sheinnovates Girls’ Lounges Arrive on University Campuses Worldwide to Foster STEM Skills

SAP Next-Gen launches #sheinnovates Girls’ Lounges to foster young female purpose driven innovators at campuses worldwide.

In a collaboration with The Female Quotient and their Girls’ Lounge program, the first #sheinnovates Girls’ Lounge is opening at the SAP Next-Gen Lab location at ESIGELEC in Rouen, France. Additional #sheinnovates Girls’ Lounges are planned at SAP Next-Gen Lab locations on university campuses worldwide, which aim to encourage more young women to pursue STEM education and gain skills as next-generation purpose-driven innovators who can accelerate solutions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The launch of #sheinnovates Girls’ Lounges is being made as part of The Female Quotient’s Girls’ Lounge at Cannes Lions, June 18-21, 2018, in collaboration with SAP Next-Gen.

Working Together to Accelerate Women’s Participation in Technology

“The Female Quotient is committed to advancing equality in the workplace through collaboration, activating solutions for change and creating metrics for accountability,” said Shelley Zalis, CEO, The Female Quotient, which create experiential pop-ups at global conferences, corporations, and college campuses where women connect, collaborate, and activate change together. “The destination-turned-movement has become the largest community of business women rising up to transform workplace culture. Anything is possible when we come together with compassion and purpose.”

“We are honored to open the first French SAP Next-Gen Lab at ESIGELEC Rouen including a #sheinnovates Girls’ Lounge,” said Fadoua BOUZBOUZ, research faculty member in business and computer science at ESIGELEC. “In the lab and Girls’ Lounge, students will think, create, and realize projects around SAP technologies and innovation with customers, while supporting girls’ career evolution in technology areas. It is our responsibility to prepare the next generation of women for the future,” continued BOUZBOUZ.

The #sheinnovates Girls’ Lounges also support the goals of the UN Women Global Innovation Coalition for Change (GICC), a dynamic partnership between UN Women and leaders from the private sector, academia, and nonprofit institutions focused on developing the innovation market to work better for women and to accelerate the achievement of gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Girls’ Lounge locations at campuses can help build awareness of the potential for innovations developed by young women identify barriers to having more girls and young women pursue STEM education and careers, and work collaboratively to take actions to address these barriers.”
