This week, the SAP Next-Gen program teamed with The Female Quotient to highlight the rise of purpose-driven female innovators on the forefront of customer experience during SAP Customer Experience LIVE in Barcelona.
SAP Next-Gen hosted a special #sheinnovates meetup for innovative women and girls in Barcelona and co-hosted the SAP Customer Experience LIVE Hackathon for purpose-driven students. The activities brought CEOs and influencers together to inspire students, young women, and girls to claim their seats at the innovation table, powered by SAP Next-Gen in support of the UN Global Goals and UN Women.
Guided by the principle of leaving no one behind, the 2030 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) call for transformative shifts, integrated approaches, and innovative solutions to overcome the structural barriers to sustainable development. This also applies to the barriers to gender equality and women’s empowerment. Innovative solutions are crucial to accelerating industry-wide change and removing the barriers to women and girls’ advancement in innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship. Individual efforts alone will not achieve the transformative and industry-wide change needed; we must come together to address these barriers in an integrated manner.
In September 2017, UN Women together with SAP Next-Gen launched the Global Innovation Coalition for Change (GICC) with 25 leading private sector, academic, and not-for-profit institutions committed to making innovation work for women and girls to accelerate the achievement of gender equality and the 2030 agenda for the SDGs. The #sheinnovates program, founded by UN Women and led by Ann Rosenberg, senior vice president and global head of SAP Next-Gen, supports the mission of the GICC and builds up the community on behalf of the movement.
“By fostering a movement today to empower young women as purpose-driven leaders for the future, SAP Next-Gen is supporting the company’s commitment to the UN SDGs, including Goal 5: Gender Equality,” said Rosenberg. “SAP Next-Gen invites companies, academia, purpose-driven partners, tech community leaders, institutions, students, and citizens to join us to advance gender equality and inspire young women as purpose-driven innovators.”
The GICC is committed to three areas of action: building market awareness of the potential for innovations developed by women that meet the needs of women and girls; identifying the key barriers to women and girl’s advancement in innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship; and working collaboratively to identify and take actions to address these barriers and needs at an industry-wide level.
On October 10, SAP Next-Gen hosted the #sheinnovates meetup in Barcelona, bringing together inspiring women and encouraging them to join the #sheinnovates movement, which aims to empower purpose-driven women innovators. #sheinnovates is helping drive industry-wide action to make innovation and technology work better for young women and girls, and to foster the next generation of female leaders. Join the conversation with @SAPNextGen and @SAP_CX using the hashtags #sheinnovates and #CX4Her.
The Female Quotient and #CX4Her
The Female Quotient is committed to advancing equality in the workplace through collaboration, activating solutions for change, and creating metrics for accountability. The destination-turned-movement has become the largest community of businesswomen rising up to transform workplace culture.
“Anything is possible when we come together with compassion and purpose,” said Shelley Zalis, CEO of The Female Quotient, which creates experiential pop-ups at global conferences, corporations, and college campuses where women connect, collaborate, and activate change together.
In a collaboration with The Female Quotient, a two-day Equality Lounge experience was held on the show floor at SAP Customer Experience LIVE, also was the home of #CX4Her, a destination for equality conversations to grow the influencer community of women in the marketing space.
“The SAP Customer Experience organization was thrilled to host the Equality Lounge in collaboration with our partners on the SAP Next-Gen team,” said Gretchen Nemechek, senior vice president of Enablement Strategy, Programs, and Content for SAP Customer Experience. “Forging a community anchored in our hashtag #CX4Her is an important step in our effort to showcase and build momentum around the future women leaders of tech, who are also the brand leaders of tomorrow.”
Coding for Purpose
On October 9, SAP Next-Gen hosted teams of university students to participate in the SAP Customer Experience LIVE Hackathon, which provided an opportunity for next-generation developers to apply their SAP skills to coding challenges aligned with customer experience.
Student participation in the hackathon was part of the global Code with Purpose program from SAP Next-Gen, fostering next-generation developers who are committed to making a positive global impact. At the coding events, teams design and develop apps based on the latest SAP technology to contribute to a sustainable future.
