Five Things to Do Now to Prepare for SAP SuccessFactors People Analytics

Which areas of your business have the biggest talent gaps? How would an organizational re-design impact your sales line of business? Are you able to answer key workforce questions such as these quickly?

Or does it take you weeks to collect input from multiple sources, massage the data into one or more reporting tools, only to provide you with an answer that’s not only out of date, but one that you can’t stand behind with absolute confidence?

At SuccessConnect this year, we introduced SAP SuccessFactors People Analytics to help you strengthen your leadership as an HR and workforce leader with simple, fast insight from data.

Our vision for SAP SuccessFactors People Analytics is about helping you be more successful, with simple, scalable capabilities. Enabled by SAP Analytics Cloud, data from across the enterprise and from the market is analyzed with HR data to provide you and your business leaders, HR professionals, managers, and employees with the impact-driven insights and guidance they need, when they need it, for your intelligent enterprise. And with the power of machine learning technologies by SAP Leonardo, SAP SuccessFactors People Analytics goes beyond traditional analytics by augmenting decisions informed by detecting patterns in the data and recommending the best course of action.

The best way for you to get started down the path toward harnessing the power of SAP SuccessFactors People Analytics is to follow these five steps:

1. Enable and set up role-based permissions

Role Based Permissions (RBP) is a prerequisite for most new features released by SAP SuccessFactors, including Report Center in SAP SuccessFactors People Analytics. If you haven’t already enabled and set up, we have provided a number of resources to ease your move to RBP:

2. Start using report center today

Report center has been generally available since 2017 and is prerequisite for SAP SuccessFactors People Analytics. It consolidates report builder tools into a single modern interface where you can build and run reports. You can enable report center on your own today in the upgrade center to take advantage of some immediate benefits:

  • Tell compelling stories using a single solution with data from across the entire SAP SuccessFactors suite.
  • Leverage a single user interface to create and run all of your SAP SuccessFactors reports.
  • Take advantage of new functionality, including simple report scheduling, labels, and role-based sharing.

Report center is planned to be applied to all preview instances as a universal feature in the second quarter of 2019 and to all production instances universally in the third quarter of 2019, so it makes sense to start using it now.

3. Think about your HR data strategy

What HR data is critical to helping your organization achieve its business goals? Which HR metrics and insights are aligned with the company’s long-term strategy to measure success? For example, do you need to know what percentage of your workforce will retire in the next year or in the next five years? The percentage of your employees who are fully engaged and are doing their best work at all times? Your revenue per employee and whether it is higher than your competitors? How it varies across lines of business or geographies? Make sure you are collecting the data you need to answer the key questions that support your goals — and that you are working with your peers in other parts of the organization.

4. Clean out your old, outdated reports to make room for new ones

If you’re like most organizations, you have developed a library of reports since implementation. But are these existing reports giving you the insights and data you need? Are they even used? Now is a great time to catalog and clean up your report library with a keen eye toward future needs.
