Cape Peninsula University of Technology, SAP equip trainers with skills in ICT

JohannesburgThe Cape Peninsula University of Technology’s Faculty of Business and SAP Africa’s SAP University Alliance programme will this week for the first time conduct an introduction to SAP01 training – an introductory course to SAP software focusing on providing insight for lecturers who, on completion, will be ale to plough back the knowledge and help senior students gain experience in SAP and ICT.

The course started yesterday and will run till 29 October 2009.

The SAP University Alliances programme is a global programme that provides university faculty members with the tools and resources necessary to teach students how technology can enable integrated business processes and strategic thinking – and gives students the skills to add immediate value to the marketplace.

Ferdo Maree, of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, says: “We are very excited to part of this initiative. We joined the alliance to offer hands-on experience on SAP to help increase graduate recruitment rates when the student leaves varsity for the job world or if they wish to be entrepreneurs.”

A deeper understanding of SAP solutions can jumpstart students’ careers by combining business process knowledge with enterprise software expertise to develop the most valuable skills portfolio in the market today. “Our focus as Cape Peninsula University of Technology is to empower tomorrow’s workforce through education,” adds Maree.

Career-ready graduates, as part of an educated workforce, are fundamental for competitiveness and success in today’s global business environment. At regional and global levels, a combination of business and information technology (IT) skills as well as industry expertise, promote stability and economic growth.

“Our education and training programmes enable users and partners to leverage ICTs and business process know-how as drivers of growing economies as well as sustainable communities,” explains Max Fuzani, SAP Africa University Alliances manager.

Course material includes SAP Introduction, Navigation; System-Wide Concepts; Logistics; Accounting; Human Resources; Products, solutions, and services, among others.

Delegates from Namibia Polytechnic, University of the Western Cape, Free State University as well as the Cape Peninsula University of Technology are involved in the four-day training.
