Johannesburg — SAP Africa has appointed Andrew Waititu to the position of General Manager for East Africa, strengthening the software vendor’s presence in this growing market.
Waititu brings with him a wealth of experience in the IT sector, having previously worked as the Business Group lead for the Middle East and Africa at Microsoft. In his new role, Waititu will be responsible for business development in East Africa, where he will also ensure that SAP’s expansion strategy is aligned with the region’s broader development plans.
The appointment of Waititu is testament to SAP’s growing focus on East Africa. “I believe that there is huge untapped potential in Africa, and am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with SAP – one of the ICT powerhouses on the continent – to realise some of these opportunities,” says Waititu. “My focus will be to increase the understanding of the value SAP’s broad range of solutions can offer customers and build the brand’s reputation in East Africa.”
“We are delighted by this appointment and welcome Andrew into the fold. He brings a wealth of both management and technical experience to this role, which will prove to be invaluable as we continue to grow our business in Africa,” comments Pfungwa Serima, Managing Director of SAP Africa.
