Cape Town — Yesterday, SAP hosted a gala dinner to raise funds for the World Childhood Foundation (WCF), which was founded by Queen Silvia of Sweden in 1999, and aims to reach out to children at risk around the world. Her Royal Highness Princess Madeleine of Sweden, who is visiting South Africa as part of her work with the Foundation, was the honorary guest at the dinner.
The WCF currently supports over 115 programmes in 14 countries. SAP donated R200 000 towards its cause, and the company’s customers and partners, including Old Mutual, Engen Oil and Hasso Plattner Ventures Africa, have contributed an additional R90 000.
Antonia Ashton, Global Vice-President of Corporate Social Responsibility and Employee Communication at SAP, said: “As a global information technology leader with over 100 000 customers in 120 countries worldwide, SAP recognises and embraces its responsibility to contribute actively to society.

All funds raised from the gala event were donated to WCF.
