Johannesburg — The African SAP User Group (AFSUG) and SAP Africa flagship conference, Saphila, came to an end yesterday when 1 400 delegates departed Sun City after two days of seminars, lectures and keynote speeches by the likes of SAP’s Head of Emerging Markets, Simon Paris, and Treasury General of the ANC, Matthews Phosa.
Saphila (loosely translated to mean ‘plenty of life’ in Zulu) takes place every two years and is hosted by the SAP User Group in partnership with SAP Africa.
The conference is a platform for SAP’s customers, suppliers and architects to come together to share learning, reveal new innovations and hear from a panel of international and local ICT experts.
According to SAP Africa’s COO, Ashley Boag: “Over the years, Saphila has evolved into a large-scale event, which offers delegates unparalleled insights into the future of ICT in South Africa and Africa as a whole. In addition, it offers our eco-system the opportunity to share best practice, innovation and spend time networking in order to extract the maximum value from their investments. As Matthews Phosa pointed out during the conference, the importance of the IT sector in the upliftment of our continent’s economy cannot be underestimated. If this event was anything to go by, Africa’s future is bright.”
