SAP Africa kicks off Energy & Natural Resources Forum in Abidjan

COTE D’IVOIRE – ABIDJANSAP Africa today kicked off the SAP Energy & Natural Resources Forum 2014 at the Sofitel Hotel in Abidjan. The one-day event will see delegates gain access to high-level thinking around the state of the industry in the region, as well as gathering insights from SAP industry partners in the region.

“According to the United National Economic Commission for Africa, the continent holds up to 80 percent of the world’s natural resources,” said Gilles lePretre, MD at SAP Francophone Africa, and keynote speaker at the event. “Energy and Natural Resources (ENR) industries are facing significant transformation from deregulation, privatisation, increased competition, ageing infrastructure and rising operational costs. It is all of these things, coupled with a focus on innovation, which is driving market changes that companies in all regions need to be able to react to.”

Gilles and his team of speakers will address customers, partners and media at the event. The line-up includes:

  • Jean-Marc Delbos, industry principal for SAP EMEA, who will engage the audience around the reality of digital oil mines, hydrocarbon supply chain and operational integrity;
  • Stephane Dotto, a value engineer for SAP EMEA, who will be speaking about protecting revenue streams, thinking beyond ERP and why now is the time for Smart Grids; and
  • Jean Perguet, an ENR industry value engineer for SAP France, who will talk about digital mine operations, enterprise asset management and operational efficiencies.

“Delegates will be afforded an amazing opportunity here,” says lePretre. “They will have access to influential speakers and will learn first-hand from customers and peers as to how SAP solutions can help innovate, transform and support the specific business requirements of ENR companies.”
