ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast — SAP held its first public sector forum in Francophone Africa this week to showcase how innovation technologies including cloud computing, enterprise mobility, and analytics powered by SAP HANA can help public sector organisations improve performance and develop forward-thinking, citizen-centric programs to meet the rising demand for better government services, budgetary restraint, and accountability.

SAP showcase industry innovations aimed at tackling public sector challenges facing Francophone Africa
One of the critical areas in the region is the need for improvement of public services administration in Africa, especially in Ivory Coast francophone. Being part of this forum gives partner the flexibility and opportunity to build a strong market presence, share business strategies that works best for customers including the public sector business and share how technology can help address some of the many challenges facing the public sector in the francophone region.

The forum was attended by government and senior public service officials from other organisations with the objective to discover SAP technologies, share global best practice, insights, trends and expertise on how technology can help transform the francophone public sector towards a better citizen centric region.
According to François Bodin, Director for Public Sector at SAP Francophone Africa, there are three major challenges facing the regional public sector and across other regions namely; the need for good corporate governance, globalisation and innovation technologies. He adds, digital transformation plays a key role in helping the public sector change the way they do business, we see technology as the enabler of this necessary change, to reimage government operations with simple and effective business processes of doing things. A digitally transformed sector regardless of the nature of its industry stand a better chance of survival and has better employee morale because of its citizen centric approach.
Francophone Africa region especially Moroccan government highly regards the value of ICT as a strategic enabler to promote innovation and ultimately drive job creation, having a partner such as ATOS to drive SAP’s innovation into the region and contribute towards SAP digital transformation strategy for Africa makes the journey into Africa a pleasant one.
