Last week, SAP Brand Ambassador and WTA World No. 3 Angelique Kerber took part in an exclusive live Q&A through the @SAPSports Twitter account.
Tennis fans and SAP employees went wild with tweeted questions to Kerber, who was in Cincinnati playing her final warm-up tournament ahead of her US Open title defense in New York later this month.
Kerber, who joined the SAP family earlier this year, credits SAP Tennis Analytics as being integral to her Grand Slam success at the Australian Open last year. She followed that performance up later last year with a first appearance in the Wimbledon final and a second Grand Slam title at the US Open, where she then overtook close rival Serena Williams at the top of the WTA rankings.
But she took a short break from the court to interact with her fans, as she notes: “It was really cool to engage with them on Twitter, I was completely humbled by how many fans took the time to ask questions, and by how much they knew about me. What a great experience!”
Questions ranged from her title run to her training principles and how SAP technology aids her performance. There were also some fun, personal questions like who is her movie star crush, what her favorite food and books are, who she confides in, whether she’d rather build a snowman or a sandcastle and what sports she enjoys outside of tennis.
And the fun didn’t stop there. Angie gave thanks and ended the Tweet Chat with her own question to the fans: “If I played mixed doubles, who would you like to see me play with, past or present?”
The hour-long campaign reached more than 2.5 million fans and over 730 engaged with Kerber during the campaign. But now she’s back to business and we wish her good luck in her upcoming matches.
