United Group Limited selects SAP to support growth objectives and market strategy

SydneyConstruction and engineering services company, United Group Limited, has selected SAP to support the company’s growth objectives and customer-driven market strategy. United Group will be rolling out SAP Business Suite ERP solution across its Infrastructure, Rail and Resources divisions.

SAP will provide United Group with an integrated and standardised software platform which is expected to drive operational efficiencies across the three divisions and provide a platform for future growth and innovation.

United Group is a leading engineering and services company providing industrial maintenance, manufacturing, engineering, transport facilities management and corporate real estate services to blue chip companies and governments throughout Australia, New Zealand, Asia, US and the UK.

“SAP is already in use in a part of our organisation,” said Liz Latham, chief information officer, United Group. “We inherited a highly successful SAP implementation as a result of the United Group’s acquisition of ALSTOM Transport Business in 2005.

SAP will provide United Group with core business functionality relating to financials, asset management and project management. United Group selected SAP on the basis of its tight fit with business requirements, the existing SAP skills base within the organisation and the potential for future innovation.

The multi-million dollar SAP contract will be rolled out across United Group’s operations in Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and New Zealand. The project, which is currently in scoping stages, will increase the number of SAP users from around 250 today to more than 1000 within eighteen months. An in-house team will manage the implementation.
