SAP to leverage global expertise in emerging sectors of Australia’s resources industry
SYDNEY, Australia — SAP Australia will have an increased focus on the resources sector in 2010, with the aim of expanding upon their market leading position in the mining, metals, oil and gas industries. The national Resources team under the leadership of Tim Moylan, General Manager, North Central West, SAP ANZ will focus on the growth sectors of Coal Seam Gas, Liquid Natural Gas (LNG), and emerging miners across the country. With the appointment of Grant Clinch, as Director, Resources, SAP ANZ, the relocation of elements of the Resource Industry Development Team to Australia, and additional hiring, SAP has assembled a world class team to grow with this important sector of the Australian economy.
SAP is the clear market leader in the resources industry, with customers including Rio Tinto, Fortescue Metals, MMG, Newcrest, Woodside, Caltex, Iluka, Inpex, OneSteel, and BlueScope Steel. The company plans to maintain its strength amongst the leading players in the market and target growing Tier 2 mining companies and the burgeoning LNG and coal seam gas companies as their presence grows in the local market.
“SAP has a lot of international experience in the oil and gas industry. As these industries become an increasingly important part of the Australian economy over the next five years with the continuing industrialisation of Asia, we’re looking to leverage our overseas experience locally and engage with these companies now,” said Tim Moylan, General Manager, North Central West Team, SAP ANZ.
“As the gas industry and tier two mining industry grows in Australia, organisations operating in this space will need industry leading, robust and scalable software to support their growth. SAP has the industry expertise, experience and leadership to enable these organisations to become best-run businesses.”
