SAP announces subscription based software hosting for the mining industry

Local SAP partners Extend Technologies and Courtland Business Solutions will now offer SAP® Business All-in-One for Mining via subscription based hosting for midsize mining companies in Australia and New Zealand

SYDNEY, AustraliaSAP Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) today announced a partnership with Extend Technologies and Courtland Business Solutions to provide a new delivery option for the Business All-in-One Mining offering. The new subscription based hosting will allow small and midsize mining companies to implement and run the SAP® Business All-in-One solutions without the need to hire and train dedicated IT staff to implement and manage the software. This offering allows small and midsize mining companies to implement with small user bases and limited software functionality and scale the system (both from a functionality and user base perspective) as junior miners grow to midsize miners and midsize miners grow to be major miners.

SAP partners Extend Technologies and Courtland Business Solutions, a wholly owned subsidiary of the ASG Group, are amongst the first ANZ partners to offer hosting as an alternative to the traditional on-premise deployment option. The new hosted offering is designed specifically for midsize mining companies and is aimed at delivering a low risk, fast time-frame, defined scope offering, to ensure efficient implementation and rapid ROI.

“SAP’s strategy is to deliver our software in any way the customer wants to consume it”, said Grant Clinch, Director Resources SAP ANZ. “That could be any combination of on-premise or on-demand, on the device of their choice. With this announcement we are now enabling our midsize mining customers, via our partners, to have their SAP software delivered on-demand.

“We’re excited to be working with Extend Technologies and Courtland Business Solutions to deliver this new offering to the mining industry. Partners are crucial to our success, and we are very keen to grow the ecosystem of partners who can benefit from being able to offer a greater variety of consumption models.”

The newly available hosted offering means that SAP channel partners take on the responsibility for application hosting and management, infrastructure maintenance and software upgrades.

“We have had a successful relationship with SAP for several years and continue to work closely to explore the best opportunities to create value for our customers. The new offering means we can provide our customers with more flexible solutions that can be implemented quickly and at a fixed, predictable cost,” said Andrew Powell, General Manager – Commercial, Extend Technologies.

Peter Lander, General Manager for Courtland Business Solutions said “Customers are demanding greater control over their IT costs which is driving the trend towards subscription based hosting. This hosted SAP offering is an important addition to the range of options by which we can deliver service to our customers and we’re excited to work with SAP and Extend Technologies to deliver this offering to the mining industry.”

Hosted offerings from SAP channel partners help customers minimise up-front capital investments in acquiring IT infrastructure and reduce the ongoing operating costs typically associated with managing software solutions. They further enable customers to better focus on their core business, products and services that best meet the demands of their individual markets. In turn, midsize customers can focus resources on differentiating from their competitors, executing on their growth strategies and making their businesses more transparent and sustainable.
