Outback Armour Selects SAP Business ByDesign to Kick Start New Business

Queensland-based start-up company works with CN Group to implement integrated SaaS ERP solution from SAP

SydneySAP Australia and Australian IT services company, CN Group today announced the latest SAP Business ByDesign customer in Australia, Outback Armour. The Queensland based start-up specialises in providing accessories for off-road vehicles and has selected SAP Business ByDesign to deliver an integrated SaaS based ERP solution.

As a new company, Outback Armour was keen to avoid the issues that disparate financial and resource planning systems can cause as new companies grow. By implementing SAP Business ByDesign from the outset, Outback Armour has a fully integrated solution which gives it full access to the extensive ERP experience and functionality offered by SAP, which is scalable and fast to deploy.

Outback Armour operates on a national and international level and employees often need to work remotely at customer sites. This means a system where information is entered once and is then available to everyone in the company, no matter where they are. The fact that SAP Business ByDesign runs in the cloud is key. It means that as long as employees have access to a laptop or mobile device they have full access to the system securely.

The fully integrated solution provides access to SAP best practice business processes and is scalable to meet the demands of the business as it grows. Based on subscription, SAP Business ByDesign lets Outback Armour activate and deactivate specific functions as needed and provides it with access to all future upgrades for no additional fee.

Richard Catelan, CEO at Outback Armour said: “As a new business we were looking for a solution that would work for us now and in the future. We are a new company but the people who work here have a lot of industry experience and know what is needed to make a business successful. As we are starting out, we need to make sure we deliver on what we promise to our customers and build our credibility. SAP allows us to do this and is a brand people respect and recognise. I feel that working with SAP not only gives us the solution we need but also adds to our overall reputation. Having first class enterprise systems in place helps to reassure customers that we are serious about our business and providing them with high class of products, services and customer experience.”

Mark Anderson, General Manager, Queensland, CN Group said: “We worked very closely with Outback Armour on this implementation, with the project being completed in less than four weeks. Due to the nature of SAP Business ByDesign no dedicated infrastructure or specific IT skills were required thus reducing the cost of implementation. As SAP’s first Business ByDesign Partner in Australia we are happy to be working with organisations like Outback Armour and to assist in dispelling the myth that SAP is just for large enterprises. If you still think of SAP as only providing large, complex business solutions for the big end of town, then you need to take a closer look and see the great things SAP is doing with Business ByDesign.”

Greg Harbor, Vice President of On-Demand Solutions at SAP said: “Outback Armour is a new company concentrating on getting the basics right from the start. The embedded self-help learning offered by SAP Business ByDesign allows Outback Armour to train employees quickly without the need for large training budgets. We are also constantly adding new functionality which is accessible to all users, new or existing. This is a great example of how SAP Business ByDesign can be used to give new businesses a head start and benefit from the flexibility offered by the solution.”
