NEWSBYTE — SAP Australia will host its second SAP InnoJam, an innovative 30-hour competition that brings together SAP customers, developers, partners, consultants, and technology enthusiasts. SAP InnoJam will be held from August 19 – 20 at the Graduate School of Business, Victoria University in Melbourne.
Participants gain hands-on experience with the newest and most innovative SAP technologies to take an idea from concept to prototype. This year the scenario builds on SAP’s Urban Matters program where participants will be working to develop solutions and prototypes to help fight bushfires in Australia.
The SAP Urban Matters program focuses on helping customers and partners address the issues associated with rapid urbanisation, the drive for smarter economies, the need for sustainable growth and the power of connected citizens. The initiative aims to improve people’s lives in the city, help urban governments best run cities contributing to a better run world.
With 7,562 people displaced and many businesses destroyed in recent years by Australian bushfires, the scenario will drill down to specific challenges teams can work on to better handle the devastation caused by bushfires.
Participants will be asked to create solutions using a suite of different SAP technologies that include SAP NetWeaver Cloud, SAP NetWeaver Gateway, HANA, SAPUI5 and Sybase PowerBuilder. During the competition, teams will have 24 hours to build a prototype based on their choice of technology, with counsel from on-site SAP experts.
“Bushfires in Australia are a constant reminder of the dangers this type of environmental disaster presents. To help solve some of the problems, SAP InnoJam is looking to drive innovation and create solutions that can be used to overcome issues associated with real world problems – including bushfire emergencies,” said Rui Nogueira, working in SAP’s Developer Experience team.
“SAP InnoJam brings together a balance of business and technology thinking, helping teams accomplish successful prototype creation, while enhancing and enriching their own experience and knowledge.”
Teams will be asked to use Design Thinking, a methods and process based methodology for investigating ill-defined problems, acquiring information, analysing knowledge, and positing solutions in the design and planning field.
Originally called InnovationWeekend, SAP InnoJam was first held in 2010 in Berlin, Las Vegas and Bangalore prior to each SAP TechEd 2010 conference. Since then, due to the popularity of the event, it was held in many other locations around the world.
