SYDNEY, Australia — SAP Australia and New Zealand announced today that it has partnered with one of the state’s largest skills provider, the Northern Sydney Institute of TAFE (NSIT) to provide a self-paced learning program which offers online SAP courses to help address IT skills shortages in New South Wales.
NSIT will be the first TAFE in New South Wales to offer the online, self-paced courses as a part of SAP’s uAcademy, a skills-based learning program targeted at business and IT students. Unlike most tertiary courses, students have the flexibility to enrol for the individual courses they are interested in without committing to a long-term study program.
Aroon Wadvani, Education Channel Manager, Australia and New Zealand said: “We have seen increased demand from employers in recent years for employees with enterprise application skills.”
“Professionals with SAP skills are in high demand across the country in both business and government. But despite the appetite, the number of students who are graduating from universities and TAFE’s who understand the business value of enterprise software is comparably low.”
“Working in partnership with NSIT we are aiming to equip students with the skills that we know employers are asking for.”
NSIT Institute Director, Kevin Harris says this program will give students the opportunity to be work ready when they finish their diploma or degree.
“We are very excited about this partnership and have already started to up skill and will certify six of our teachers in the SAP product suite so they can support our students.”
“Working with SAP we aim to introduce a much needed set of SAP skills into the marketplace and give students both a head start and enhancement to their careers in SAP related roles.”
“We will be presenting our SAP training opportunities at the upcoming SAP Australian User Group event –National Summit 2013 that is being held in Sydney in September.”
The program offers pre-existing, online SAP training courses that better equip students with basic to advanced SAP skills, with content and related support provided by SAP Education.
The SAP uAcademy courses provide a combination of e-learning and hands-on experience. They offer digital content added to the ability to interact with SAP software and live training systems to reinforce lessons. Students will also be equipped with the knowledge to sit SAP Associate Certification, a vocational qualification which employers now seek from job candidates.
